Uncle Paul is honored to be a local community Elder supporting other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, living with disability to connect to community and culture and build resilience via yarning and sharing stories through traditional art styles handed down over thousands of years.
Uncle Paul has worked in disability since 1980, he contracted Polio as a toddler in 1961.
He has worked exclusively in the area of disability around First Peoples of Australia since 2005 and 2010 started an art group of
First Peoples of Australia living with a disability now known as the Nuunaron Art Group.
With decades of experience working across the disability sector, Uncle Paul has developed a number of resources that assist community to understand issues such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme, information on how to identify individual support needs and models of service delivery, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, The Disability Royal Commission, and the Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance Commission, as well as the National Injury insurance scheme Queensland.
Uncle Paul represents the Interests of First Nations People with Disabilities and the Many Spirits Community on multiple Committees and Advisory Boards:
